One small step for a little man, one giant leep for mankind.

We have lift off!

After being on the verge of slipping the surly bonds of every piece of furniture in sight for weeks, he let go.

While we were at the ocean, he stood unassisted for the first time on purpose and not by accident. He loved all the clapping and attention he received for his feat, so we knew that steps were close behind.

Monday he took a few steps to take the cups I was holding out for him, but he sat right down after he reached me.

And finally, yesterday, he began flirting with his new skills in earnest. While we were having dinner with Grandma and Grandpa O, he was enticed to toddle back and forth between them. He continued all night practicing letting go and walking.

All these new found skills have his little brain in a fog and he is a real pill. But it is a lot of work to go from being on all fours to a bi-pod. It took mankind 100,000 years, after all.

Now I can conquor the world!

Sitting's good too.
