
It seems to apply to most animals, and some inanimate objects. But it is a derivative of the hoot of an owl. We have had the good fortune to see many owls in recent weeks, live and in person.

He has also discovered that this sound gets attention regardless of the precence of any nocturnal beast, so he is apt to do it when he feels he is being ignored. Of course, I would never ignore him to waste time on the internet or watching TV. You can imagine I'm being hoo hooed at all the live long day.
